Thursday 27th January

More freelance work today, because of what it is it means i'm painting in nothing but green at the moment and its getting a little tiresome but i really like how its coming out, hopefully will be able to do a different colour in the next few days :D

Sophie has been oddly clingy these past couple of days though I reckon its just because its got a little chilly and she wants to steal my warms. Sophie ->

Did a little bit more on my voodoo witch, I dunno what it is but its easier for me to paint humans in none skin tones. Like this lady is purple (for some reason) and i'm ok with it but i know that if i tried to paint actual skin tones it would go badly.

Tuesday the 25th of January

I'm so confused with my days, I keep thinking its Wednesday for some reason, dunno why my brain wont get in gear. Anyway did some more freelance stuff today then a little bit of the Voodoo Drawing Jam challenge, I'm quite liking what I have come up with so far though I'm not sure about the background or colour choices. I might just go with the flow and see what happens. Booked my driving theory test today, which is a little scary going to have to spend some time swotting up on stuff, I hate studying. Kinda annoying also that if/when I pass I have just about enough money to get an old banger (I think) but I don't have the funds to like run it or insure it. Meh.

So here is my voodoo wip

Saturday 22nd January

Still working on freelance stuff (though i might have some stuff to show you in the next few days \o/ ) It's so exciting. Had an ok few days, felt a tad listless and unmotivated in some areas but kinda expected on rage week. TF2 night didn't go quite as planned as home server was down so missed the banter with the normal crowd and gave up pretty quickly and was in bed by 12:10am and then slept for 12 hours so i was obviously tired and that wasn't helping my mood. I'm feeling much better today.

Oh and I found my driving hat! I had lost it, it belonged to my dad and is a grey flat cap and I wear it for driving lessons and it seems to help. It had secreted itself in my backpack (which I had checked at least twice), maybe it just needed a break from being worn and after asking in two pubs and turning the flat upside down I took my laptop to my mums yesterday and there it was sitting in the bottom of my bag looking smug. Never the less I was glad I found it.

Only a little bit of art for you today because I've simply not had time to do anything else, its a concept of The Dead City:

Tuesday the 18th of January

Sorry for the lack of updates, I've been so busy with freelance stuff which i'm not allowed to share yet but it will come eventually and then it will be AWESSSOME! I'm so excited about what i'm working on at the moment. But here is a really quick rendering of my Drawing Jam entry that I did last night. Its not brill but mweh.

Also want to say a big thanks to Brynn Metheney for my secret santa present on CGHub. Realllly made me smile \o/

Wednesday the 12th of Jan

Lots of commission work still which I cant show you all yet but hopefully soon hence the lack of updates. Have also started my driving lessons again as well as housework that I have been neglecting somewhat annnd the yoga that I'm trying to do every day. So its nice to feel productive and kinda makes me wish I had been doing this since I finished Uni, its occurred to me I was just sort of waiting for things to happen and the world doesn't work like that, but working hard and doing a load of studies every day brought work in and hopefully it will continue like this and I will have enough to live off.

Here are some landscapes I did as warm up for some freelance stuff:

Monday 10th Jan

Been doing a lot of commission work at the moment that I can't show you guys so that's why it seems things have slowed down somewhat. I am working though! Did a few little studies this morning of city-scapes and had a go at the skewed perspective thing, it went ok as an experiment. Struggling to get the perspective right + straight lines without using the pen/stroke tool method which is a little frustrating but hopefully it will come with more practice.

Need to re-do my timetable to include some yoga I think, loose some of the Christmas pounds think I might try and loose a stone by April or at least shed some inches around my waist which is the bit that really bothering me. I know I'm not *fat* but I dont like having what feels like a pot belly. Might weigh myself tomorrow and keep you posted (not that you care) but so I have a record and see what some regular exercise and smaller portion sizes does. That is if we don't get a dog soon, because walking that for 40 minutes a day will shed some weight off me!

Friday the 7th of Jan

Spent most of the day out the house and away from my computer and managed to forget to pack my sketchbook so didn't get a great deal done today. Managed to do this landscape this morning though, I like doing them but I'm feeling like I need to take the next step like playing with the view point and perspective so its a bit more 'wacky' and interesting but I'm not entirely sure how to go about doing it. Also need to do more industrial type stuff but its something to ponder on the next few days.

Here is the landscape I did this morning, not entirely happy with the composition seems a little flat to me but I do like the colours.

Thursday 6th January 2011

Really need to start thinking of some better titles than the date but updating this every day might get a little difficult to think of good names but I suppose including the date means at least its easier to keep track of. Had an ok morning though there was a lot of reading and writing emails about some new freelance work which seemed to eat up the morning though the project looks really exciting and I hope all goes well. I also did some work on another job which is progressing well.

Actual artwise it didn't feel like I did much though i got some studies and more work on the drawing jam done, picked one of my thumbnails and took it to the next level before doing some studies then coughing (have still got this dratted cold) and feeling really dizzy and sick and have been feeling a little odd ever since so that put a halt to stuff, hope i'm not coming down with anything else because that would be crappy.

05/01/2011

Felt oddly less productive than yesterday, though I did art. Maybe its because I don't like it as much as the landscape from yesterday or maybe because I've been revising for my driving theory test and i'm worried because I dont test well generally and i find the way they phrase the questions excruciatingly convoluted some of which are accompanied by terrible photos which just make things more difficult for me because i'm a visual person. I know I struggle with text based tests and at £30 a time its kinda like I cant afford to take it more than once. Bleh.

But on to the art, first did a city landscape study since I really need to do more industrial stuff rather than organic as I cant avoid it forever, i'm not entirely happy with the outcome but I learned things so next time I will do a better one.

Did some gesture studies today using this Gesture Drawing tool which i've replaced posemaniacs with and i'm glad for it, its much easier to draw real people than computer generated bodies.

Had a go at doing an original character without a reference and he looks abit girly I think, but practice makes perfect.

Then I did some of the newest Drawing Jams 'Dude WTF' i've half settled on a snake and butterfly hybrid creature which I was having fun with but i might change my mind though I quite like the the thumbnails I came up with

04/01/2011

Felt like a productive day today though I haven't cleared up properly after the new years shindig in which the living room was turned into a mini LAN with four laptops, and three desktop pc's on the go and more boys than we have seats for playing StarCraft 2. I sat in the corner and re completed Portal. I love that game. Anyway back to the art, I failed to complete my winter dragon drawing jam entry in time for the deadline having been struck down by a cold last Wednesday and with the new years visitors was somewhat unable to get any serious drawing done. Anyway feel I made up for it today, got up early (back into time table routine) and got some commission work done. Doing the text for a shield type logo and really quiet enjoying it, I expect you will see it when its all finished and approved and whatnot.

Then I did some creature studies -

Then the picture of today I'm really proud of, it actually looks like landscape concept art I think :D

And just did this one this evening conceptart for the Holy City in a rp i'm part of
