Long time no update

Things have just been rather hectic of late so i've not had much chance to keep up with all my online stuff. But I had a very nice Christmas, I got the How to train your Dragon art book which is so awesome!!!!!!! It's soooooooo prudy inside and very inspiring, I also got a tiger print onsey and some awesome hand knitted hats and had a nice time with family, so all in all it couldn't have gone much better. 20th May

My its been a long time since I updated, not entirely sure why i've been drawing a fair bit recently. So here are some animal studies I did to warm up in the morning the cat came out really well, they took between 40 minutes and an hour each.

Decided to offer some pet portraits, (£25 each in case you want one inc an A4 print - email me) This example one of my cat Sophie came out really quite nicely :D

Anyway here is the start of concepting for the Demon Hunter Challenge at CGHub still needs some work obviously but I'm getting there.

Thursday 27th January

More freelance work today, because of what it is it means i'm painting in nothing but green at the moment and its getting a little tiresome but i really like how its coming out, hopefully will be able to do a different colour in the next few days :D

Sophie has been oddly clingy these past couple of days though I reckon its just because its got a little chilly and she wants to steal my warms. Sophie ->

Did a little bit more on my voodoo witch, I dunno what it is but its easier for me to paint humans in none skin tones. Like this lady is purple (for some reason) and i'm ok with it but i know that if i tried to paint actual skin tones it would go badly.

Tuesday 14/12

My hand hurts. I wonder if I havent put enough breaks/none drawing time into my time table or whether i just need to work my way into it and its the same kind of doing any kind of excersie that it hurts when you when you first start then you get used to it. Of course i've been drawing alot for ages just not with this intensity or for so long. 4 slots of 2 hours from 8-4 with a 20 minute break for lunch. Maybe I should add an hour for 'lunch' and do some housework or yoga in the other 40 minutes just to give my hand a rest. *ponders*

Anyway todays studies, did some cats of various sizes and shapes. Not all that happy with them to be honest think i could have done better but i was pretty tired this morning for some reason and after struggling with the one with its mouth open i wasnt feeling very cat friendly. Plus Sophie (the resident cat) has been ignoring me all day.

So then once i had got past the cat rage I sat down to finish the Drawing Jam entry, i'm not entirely happy with it really the values are all out as well as something else bothering me but I cant put my finger on it and I still keep glancing at it and squinting and whatever it is, is still eluding me the deadline is today and as the moderator i shouldn't be late so its submitted and I'll have done with it. No point flogging a dead horse and all.

Person study time, the bit i dont really like doing and several times I was on the verge of rage quitting (dunno where the rage has come from today) but I persevered and what came out at the end looks ok I think. Doing the 'traced' red lines first to see the structure helped a fair bit when I was painting the study separately because I could then use both as reference to get the shape in rather than trying to paint something that was flat. I'm not sure that makes sense but it helped my brain. Reference Image

Moar Catnip

So, I put the catnip back in its packet and on top of my computer where I thought it was safe last night. I was sorely mistaken. Woke up this morning to a ripped open cardboard packet, complete with ripped plastic bag and catnip all over my tower.

It's a good thing Sophie it cute really, anywhere here are some more pictures and a video of Sophie and the catnipz.

Catnip

Gave Sophie (the cat) some catnip today, it seems like fairly strong stuff. Some friends got me a catscratch tower for my birthday for her, it has a scratching post, dangle ball, small bridge/tunnel and an elevated sleeping area. If I was a cat I would think it was awesome. She had only used the post up until today. Sorry, I digress.

So I sprinkled some of the catnip on the bridge and on the sleeping bit and she totally spazzed out over it, rubbing it and pawing it and even getting on the elevated bed bit and rubbing round in circles and almost falling off, not to mention a fair amount of drool that seemed to accompany it. She loved it to bits.

Its funny to watch her now every time she goes up to have a scratch, which is fairly often. She gets a sniff of the catnip and spazzes again, she is so funny but clearly enjoying it.

Took the dressing off my appendicitis wound today, its weird actually seeing the stitches in my skin. They are rather neat it has to be said, might get boyfriend to take a photo of it tomorrow and I can track the healing with photos. Animated gif. for the w1n. That might be the WKD talking...

Played some TF2 and MW2 today also, enjoyed TF more than I have been doing in the past week, perhaps i must be getting better. I'm finding it a lot harder than MW2, which seems to be more luck than skill, its a lot more fast paced with less time to react which makes it much easier to die. At least in tf you have to hit someone more than once (crits aside) and for more than 2 seconds to kill them. Might do a pros and cons of both in a later entry. Bit sleepy now though.
